The Abortion Defense Network is a collaborative effort by nonprofit organizations, private law firms, and government officials committed to safeguarding abortion access and upholding reproductive rights. It is managed by the Lawyering Project, a legal advocacy organization that blends traditional impact litigation with movement lawyering to promote reproductive health, rights, and justice in the U.S.

 

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine published a report in March of 2018 confirming the safety and quality of abortion care in the United States. They concluded that, “both trained physicians and advanced practice clinicians (physician assistants, certified nurse-midwives, and nurse practitioners) can safely and effectively provide medication and aspiration abortions.” The full report: NASEM Report on Safety & Quality of Abortion Care.

The National Women’s Law Center has an Abortion Access Legal Defense Fund is designed to help people pay for expenses certain legal expenses they are facing because they are Abortion Patients or Supporters.
